He’s carrying on a musical tradition

Mr. Korber, the new orchestra here at De Pere High School, is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his previous teachers and inspire the students the way he was influenced when he was young.

“I had some awesome teachers growing up that were really inspiring to me,” he said. “I combined that with the thing I was good at, which was music, and suddenly I am a music teacher.”

He attended Wheeling High School in Illinois and went to Lawrence University in Appleton.

“I entered college knowing I wanted to teach music,” he said.

Mr. Korber plays all the orchestra instruments. He started his musical journey in fourth grade when he picked the cello.

In his free time, Mr. Korber enjoys camping, hiking and board games. He even plays Ultimate Frisbee.

“The generic stuff,” he said.

This is Mr. Korber’s first full-time teaching job. He did not student teach in De Pere, but he says he saw great potential for strings in this area, and this is where he is needed.
